A Modern Burns Unit for Children in Kyiv Oblast: Working Meeting at the Kyiv Regional Children’s Hospital
The team of the Kyiv Regional Development Agency took part in a working visit to the Kyiv Regional Children’s Hospital municipal non-profit enterprise, where a meeting was held on creating a modern burns unit for children.
Every day, young patients with severe burns and complications requiring immediate medical care and long-term rehabilitation are admitted to the hospital. That is why the development of a specialised burns unit is critically important for the whole of Kyiv Oblast.
📍 In August 2022, the hospital opened the first 3 beds for children with burns. Since then:
▪️ modern treatment methods have been introduced;
▪️ medical staff have undergone training in Ukraine, Italy and Denmark;
▪️ in the near future, doctors will undergo training in Germany.
Thanks to cooperation with the Christian Medical Association of Ukraine, the professional development of medical specialists continues on an ongoing basis.
During this period:
🔹over 500 children with burns received treatment;
🔹 120 children were hospitalised in the unit;
🔹 more than 80 skin-graft operations were carried out.
The Volunteer Council, in cooperation with ARRKO and together with the «Blahomai» Charitable Foundation, has already attracted donors ready to fund the purchase of modern medical equipment for the burns unit. The key condition remains carrying out major repairs to the premises, which was the main topic of discussion at the meeting with donors.
The Kyiv Regional Development Agency thanks all partners and donors for their joint work on creating a modern burns centre for the children of Kyiv Oblast.
This is a contribution to life that cannot be overestimated.
