ARRKO and Berezan Community: Jointly Searching for Solutions for Sustainable Development

The Kyiv Regional Development Agency team continues to study the needs of Kyiv region communities and support their development. The focus group in Berezan community was another step towards developing effective solutions for a sustainable future.

Berezan community is an example of how active residents develop social spaces and implement important public initiatives. At the same time, the community has a number of issues that require a systematic approach and additional resources.

The focus group was joined by Oleh Syvak, secretary of the Berezan City Council and its executive committee, representatives of the civil society sector, entrepreneurs and activists, including Tetiana Cherniuk – representative of the charitable foundation “Land of Goodwill”.

Key areas for development:

• Social spaces – the community is actively working to create places for cultural development and public initiatives.

• Medical and social rehabilitation – an urgent need to expand rehabilitation services, particularly for vulnerable population groups.

• Environmental challenges – local authorities are seeking solutions for effective waste management and improving the recycling system.

• Logistics potential – the favourable location of Berezan community opens up new opportunities for business and infrastructure development.

• Grant support – the community is working to attract resources through international and national funding programmes
