Focus on Action: Tetiiv Community and ARRKO Work Together on Solutions

The strength of a community lies in its people: those who work, support, develop and hold the home front. It is thanks to cohesion, inner motivation and openness to cooperation that Kyiv region communities prove their resilience every day.

The Kyiv Regional Development Agency continues its series of focus groups aimed at studying local needs, identifying vectors for growth and jointly developing solutions that reflect the real situation on the ground.

Recently, one such meeting took place in Tetiiv community. The focus group was moderated by Valentyna Poltavets.

Tetiiv community is one of the largest in the south of Kyiv Oblast. It unites 32 settlements with a population of more than 31,000 people. Its economic base is the agricultural sector: a sugar factory is actively operating, farming is developing, and agricultural processing facilities are in operation. This creates a stable foundation for further economic growth.

During the focus group, the following key topics were discussed:

  • Human resources potential and labour market challenges. The community is experiencing a noticeable labour shortage. The reasons include mobilisation, population outflow and low wages. At the same time, there is a readiness to create new jobs and seek solutions in cooperation with state and non-state partners.
  • Infrastructure and social services. The community is already implementing initiatives to insulate educational institutions, modernise street lighting and update municipal equipment. Such steps increase energy efficiency, reduce costs and improve residents’ quality of life.
  • Transport accessibility and logistics. The geographical remoteness of Tetiiv community from the regional centre creates certain limitations for investors. However, the community has significant land resources, production facilities and potential for market expansion — all of which point to opportunities for long-term development.

Despite all the challenges, Tetiiv community demonstrates inner resilience, responsibility and readiness to work on change. There is demand for renewal, there are resources to implement initiatives, and — most importantly — there is a team interested in partnership and committed to seeing the community strong, modern and self-sufficient.

We thank the community representatives for a substantive conversation, constructiveness and openness to cooperation. It is precisely this kind of interaction that guarantees effective solutions based on the real state of affairs rather than formal statistics.

The focus groups are being carried out with the grant support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
