Interreg Europe | The Agency has joined the GreenGov project!
The Kyiv Regional Development Agency is pleased to announce its participation in the consortium implementing the GreenGov project under the programme Interreg Europe. This project aims to improve understanding and implementation of the EU Taxonomy in the public policy of European regions and local authorities.
Within the GreenGov project, our Agency, together with international partners and representatives of the territorial communities of Kyiv Oblast, will work on:
- Updating the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) for 9 communities of Kyiv Oblast;
- Developing a new SECAP for one of the communities.
What is the EU Taxonomy?
It is a European sustainable finance strategy that defines which types of economic activity are considered sustainable for the purpose of directing investment. An economic activity may be considered sustainable if it makes a substantial contribution to one of 6 environmental objectives, while adhering to the “Do No Significant Harm” (DNSH) principle with respect to all the objectives.
The GreenGov project involves 11 partners and 1 associated policy body. It targets 9 policy instruments, including:
- four regional ERDF programmes;
- a green finance strategy;
- an economic transition management strategy;
- a development strategy;
- a regional climate strategy;
- a sustainable energy and climate action plan.
The GreenGov project will run from 1 April 2024 to 30 June 2028. The total project budget is EUR 2,216,728 and is funded under the European Union's Interreg Europe Programme.
