Makariv Community: Recovery, Investment Potential and Present-Day Challenges

The study of needs in Kyiv region communities continues!

The Kyiv Regional Development Agency visited Makariv community — one of those that suffered significant destruction during the occupation.

The meeting was joined by Anatolii Karbovskyi, deputy head of the community, representatives of the Rebuild Makariv charitable foundation, local entrepreneurs and representatives of the civil society sector.

Key challenges and opportunities in Makariv district:

• A shortage of workers – due to the consequences of the occupation, mobilisation and the departure of residents, many enterprises and budget institutions have vacant positions;

• Infrastructure recovery – a significant portion of roads and buildings suffered destruction, and schools and kindergartens cannot operate fully due to the lack of proper shelters;

• Water supply problems – one of the most pressing issues. The community is actively seeking investors who could join projects to modernise the water purification system;

• Investment opportunities – the community has significant land resources and opportunities for locating production facilities. There is particular potential in woodworking and agriculture;

• The “Rebuild Makariv” charitable foundation – helps attract international aid and grant funding for recovery.

Despite the challenges, Makariv community is not standing still and continues to seek ways to recover and attract investment. We thank all participants for an open dialogue and a joint search for solutions!
