New project for the communities of Kyiv Oblast
On 3 September, the inaugural meeting of the project "Strategic planning of the recovery and development of territorial communities as a basis for the European integration process" took place. The project is implemented by the Centre for Local Self-Government Quality in partnership with the Kyiv Regional Development Agency, with the financial support of the International Renaissance Foundation International Renaissance Foundation and the European Union
This launch became an important event for three communities of Kyiv Oblast — Medvyn, Nemishaieve and Kaharlyk. It is these communities that will soon begin working on their own development strategies with the support of the project.
During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to introduce their teams, meet the experts and discuss key tasks and expected results. In their opening remarks, project manager Valentyna Poltavets and Agency Deputy Director Zhanna Ovcharova emphasised that strategic planning is the foundation of recovery, as well as a way to attract new resources and shape a long-term vision for communities.
The project will contribute to the recovery and development of the selected territorial communities (Medvyn, Kaharlyk, Nemishaieve) through the development of Community Development Strategies with broad involvement of business and the public, which will ensure community cohesion and the attraction of resources for reconstruction and development. Local government employees will have the opportunity to develop practical skills in project management, promotion of investment potential and European integration at the community level.
This project is a strategic investment in the future of Kyiv Oblast. It is thanks to such strategies that communities gain the tools for sustainable development and gradual convergence with European standards.
