Round table “Prospects for creating a bast fibre cluster in Kyiv region”
We continue working on the region’s strategic tasks – in particular, we have launched the formation of Kyiv region’s bast fibre cluster💪
Yesterday, a round table titled “Prospects for creating a bast fibre cluster in Kyiv region” was held at the premises of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
It was attended by Natalia Pohrebna, Director of the Department of Economy of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Director of the Kyiv Regional Development Agency Oleksandr Vakhovskyi, representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Institute for International Politics, the Institute of Bast Crops of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS), the “Yaroslav” Concern, and many others.
This meeting was the first step towards creating and developing the cluster. During the discussion, participants learned about the cluster concept, the realities and intentions of producers, and the industry’s available financial and professional resources. After that, all those present jointly drew up a board of issues, challenges and opportunities for the future cluster.
“We have a lot of resources: natural, financial and scientific potential. But these things, as a rule, do not add up to a ready-made business model. I believe that is exactly what we need to arrive at. This event was the first step on that path. It is important to develop the sector and engage with businesses that have practical experience. In my view, our next task is to move to the next session with a step-by-step model and a thorough SWOT analysis,” noted Oleksandr Vakhovskyi, Director of the Agency.
Historical memory, along with current statistical data and analysis, confirms that Kyiv region has strong prospects for growing and processing bast fibre crops. Further stages of work will help not only to develop the sector, but also to create a dedicated cluster in Kyiv region.
We are working to find new opportunities and further develop the region!
