The Kyiv Regional State Administration is preparing communities in the Kyiv region for development in the context of European integration

Its goal is to help communities define development priorities, formulate strategies, and prepare projects that can serve as a foundation for future recovery, investment attraction, and collaboration with international partners.

This approach is a crucial part of preparing communities for the process of European integration: decisions must be based on long-term planning, clear priorities, and well-prepared projects.

From strategy to specific projects

As part of the project, communities worked on development strategies, spatial planning, and the creation of public investment project portfolios. A key aspect of this work involved engaging residents, businesses, and local authorities in defining shared development priorities.

The Medvyn, Kaharlyk, and Nemishaieve communities—the project's pilot participants—were the first to present the results of this work.

Why Communities Need Strategic Planning

The strategy enables the community to move beyond simply reacting to one problem after another; instead, it fosters an understanding of what needs to be prioritized, which projects are required to achieve this, and where to find the resources for their implementation.

For the KRDA, this work is directly linked to the region's future development. Clearly defined priorities and well-prepared projects provide communities with greater opportunities for collaboration with the state, international organizations, and investors.

The European Approach to Community Development

Strategic planning is also becoming part of the preparations for Ukraine’s European integration. This entails a shift toward long-term planning, the transparent setting of priorities, and the development of projects with clear objectives and expected outcomes.

For the KRDA, it is important that communities in the Kyiv region not only have ideas for development but are also prepared to turn them into concrete projects and find opportunities for their implementation.
