Training ‘Green Reconstruction for Ukrainian Communities’

Training ‘Green Reconstruction for Ukrainian Communities’

We aspire for Ukraine to become part of the European Union. But to achieve this, we need to work on bringing it into compliance with EU standards in the fields of ecology, economy and energy.

On 26-27 April, in the town of Truskavets, the training “Green Reconstruction for Ukrainian Communities” took place with the support of the NGOs Ecoaction and Ecoclub. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Institute of Political Education – IPO, the NGO “Resource and Analytical Centre ‘Society and Environment’”, as well as representatives of communities and local self-government bodies from all over Ukraine.

Kyiv Oblast was represented at the training by the director of the regional development agency Oleksandr Vakhovskyi, head of the Tarashcha community Mykhailo Kryvosheiev, as well as participants from the Bilohorodka and Hirska communities.

During the sessions, participants discussed bringing the Ukrainian regulatory framework into line with European requirements, European programmes for community development, and worked through existing projects and financial proposals in practice.

Knowledge, experience, cooperation agreements, discussion of the current state of affairs and communication partnerships — this is what the training participants gained. They have already returned to their communities and are ready to work practically not only on reconstruction but also on bringing innovations into their communities.

“On the path to EU membership, great changes await us, including our communities. In particular, local authorities will need to understand the specifics of working with EU programmes and projects. However, together with teams of experts, including from the Kyiv Regional Development Agency, they will be able to learn to properly manage document flow, report, take part in audits, and, importantly, cooperate with Western partners effectively and to their own benefit”, – said the Agency’s director Oleksandr Vakhovskyi.

We continue to work together for Ukraine’s development!
