We stand together! Victory will be ours very soon!

The challenges facing Ukrainian entrepreneurs continue. In eight months of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainians have mastered the art of living, and even successfully running business, under the constant threat of missile strikes. Now the task is complicated further by the electricity shortage caused by the enemy’s damage to critical infrastructure.

Of course, there is always the option of temporarily halting a business’s operations, but Ukrainians are not used to giving up so easily. After all, demand for your goods and services does not disappear – on the contrary, it grows. Adapting a business is difficult and will require a great deal of effort, but it is precisely this choice that will ultimately help it survive.

Some companies began preparing back in the summer, purchasing generators and fuel, or power banks for their employees. So once you have built the material and technical base that will save you during power outages, make sure everything works and does not let you down at the most unexpected moment.

Approach the issue individually, taking into account all the specific features and risks of your particular business. For example, build a flexible schedule for employees so as not to breach the law under Law 2136 “On the Organisation of Labour Relations under Martial Law,” while still ensuring the work gets done. Both sides – employer and employee – will benefit from this.

Minimise your electricity use as much as possible. Some businesses are adapting to the new reality simply by shifting their peak electricity consumption times. For example, if your business is in the food sector, develop an updated menu that does not require products needing freezing, and instead simply arrange for the daily delivery of fresh vegetables, meat, and so on. You could also offer guests a candlelit dinner, turning it into a separate “story” for a romantic evening.

This is just one example, since every enterprise’s need for electricity is different. For some, it is fairly easy to find “backup” options, while for others the problem is critical. But we have all already been through a school of survival during constant air-raid sirens, when work has to be temporarily halted while everyone heads to shelter.
So we will certainly cope with this new challenge too. According to experts’ forecasts, Ukrainian entrepreneurs need just 1-2 months to fully adapt their business to the new demands of everyday life.

We do not give up! We simply have no right to, since we must hold the economic front while our defenders stand on the front line. We stand together – Victory will be ours very soon!
